Projects

Projects can sometimes be quite annoying. There are the times when you have a kick ass group that everyone participates in, and sometimes you have the group of incompetent kids who don’t do S**t. Now im a very productive kid who likes to get good grades and actually participates in the group. For every project ive ever had, I have always been on of the hardest workers, or the only worker. These past few weeks I got pretty lucky, I got a smart group who all do work and are all pretty smart. But that wasn’t the case for everyone, there was a couple of groups with "single workers", but luckily I got a good one. When I do get a good group we usually end up getting a good grade because we all participate and make our project the best that it can be. But I did have a project for American history where I got stuck with three idiots who don’t do anything and don’t car about anything. That’s the time when projects start to suck, when you have to do ALL the work by yourself. Now I did get an A, because im awesome but other people aren’t so lucky.

Projects can be a big help to some people, and it can bring up your grade a lot. But I have never been in that case. I have always hated projects because they have never really benefited me except for keeping my grade the way it is. Projects are suppose to be opportunities to help you get the grade you want. But all they have been for me is extra work at home where sometimes I have to do the whole thing. Anyway projects do sometimes help people and im sure they will end up benefiting me some way or another, maybe not grade wise, but I know that I was able to learn a lot form the GLIDES project.

Blogging!!!

I never really realized but blogging has really become a part of my life, mostly because it is homework but the only nights that I don’t do it are Friday and Saturday night, which when you think about it is a lot of blogging. It is really not that bad and it is a great way to express my views on really controversial topics. I mean this will probably be the last week that I ever blog, well you never know, but at least for now it will be. But I have really been able to express my thoughts on these blogs and I have gotten a lot of feed back, which lets me know that they are interesting topics, that many people have a lot of different views on. I have been able to introduce some topics that have even intrigued mrs.stoklosa, and when she responds to one of your blogs, that’s when you know it’s a goody.

But honestly this has been a pretty cool experience, which I have learned a lot about others through there blogs, but mine as well. Blogging is a new technology in this world that I think will become extremely popular in the future, to the point where everyone has a blogging page, because it’s a very good way to get your ideas out there for people to see and respond to.

The end of the year

The end of the year is an anxious time for everyone, even teachers. Everyone just wants to get school over with and be in summer where we can all chill and relax. But that does unfortunately mean that many people are starting to slack and especially with AP classes out of the way. I know plenty of kids who had to or more AP’s this year and just don’t care anymore, they barely come to school because they are just fed up with everything. After AP's people usually don’t want to do much work and they feel like it is about the end of the year. But many people are wrong, there are still three weeks left of school and even if we which they didn’t, they do matter. The teachers who teach honors are on that home stretch and are giving us a lot of busy work and a lot of work that is pretty challenging. Some kids decide to slack off because it’s almost summer, but this is a bad time to start slacking off. With that amount of grades we are getting right now, if we fail a couple of assignments it brings our grade down and jeopardizes all the hard work we have done throughout the year. So we all have to get off our lazy butts and do the work.

I personally don’t want to do any work, im so tired of school, and I want summer to be here really bad. But I do understand that school is still very important right now and that if I messed up how hard I worked all year just for the 4th quarter, then that would just simply be stupid. I am trying to stay on task and finishing all my work so I can end the year with good grades. Plus there’s SAT's on June 8th so I have to stay focused and study so I can hopefully pass with a good score. The end of the year is hard and annoying but we have to tough it out.

The impact of technology

Is our reliance on technology too big? I personally think that technology is an amazing thing that has opened so many new doors for us, it has let us travel at incredible speeds, given us the ability to talk to someone across the globe no matter where you are, and it has simply made our lives longer. Technology has done so much for us, and it is getting so advanced that instead of helping us, it is becoming us. I know this sounds a little crazy but if you think about it, it makes perfect sense. We are becoming reliant on technology, we are dependent on it now, and we are always in front of the TV, computer, or our cell phones. It has taken over every aspect of our lives, and almost everything we do is using technology.

The fact is that technology might be crippling us, things like twitter could actually be lowering our social skills, and things as simple as an everyday calculator may be taking away our ability to do math without it. Technology is a good thing, but we do need to control it and the way we use it, we can let it become part of us, it’s just not healthy. If we become too reliant on machines, what will we do if they are suddenly taken away, I don’t think that we would all be able to survive in the wild, it would just be impossible. We have lost many of our natural skills because of technology, but we are getting new ones, the people a couple of centuries ago all knew how to hunt, and now we all know how to play video games or use the internet. It’s crazy how much our society is changing because of technology. We shouldn’t take it away because it is an amazing thing, but it is like everything else, too much anything isn’t good.

GLIDES

Ok so as you all know, we recently started this project called glides, which I think is the most challenging thing. Its not that it’s hard to do, but coming up with the content is the hard part. I have recently started to get the hang of this project and I think that me and my group are actually going to do well on this, but I do have a good group. The GLIDES project is based on self teaching and the ability to teach yourself, which in some cases is good because you get to explore anything that you want to, but at the same time it is a challenging thing to do because in some sense you do need to be creative, and it is hard to fully understand what you have to do because there are no guide lines, you just do it yourself. Luckily we do have a little bit of guide lines and a few examples from last year, but it is still something that is challenging to complete. I think that it will help develop certain skills that were not use to using but I still like regular projects better where you are actually assigned something, this is more along the lines of, this is a glides project. Do it.

It also depends on the group that you have. I think I got lucky and got a pretty good group with smart kids who can do the work that they have to do. I think that everyone in my group will do their part in order for us to get a good grade. But for some groups it might be hard because some people are slackers and it is hard to have a good project when no one else is helping or when one of your group members doesn’t do the work. But luckily I have a decent group and I hope that we get a good grade on this project. Even though I don’t like it too much im going to try and get the most out of this complicated project.

SAT

Ok well first of all, to put my opinion out there, I HATE the SAT, I think that it is the most ridiculous thing out there that doesn’t prove anything about anyone. There are plenty of smart people, such as me, who don’t do that well on the sat, while I have a 4.3 core GPA. It just doesn’t make sense for anyone to have their future be determined by a test that you have to take in a little amount of time, and that is a lot more challenging in the reading than in the math, and it’s not just because people are good at math. I don’t see how my future career would make me make choices in a little amount of time like the SAT gives us, while if I do have time, I can get straight A's no problem, so I don’t see why we need a stupid test to "prove" how smart we are, when in fact it just proves that you can take a test well, but in my opinion that is completely bogus.

For example, if I would want to get into Cornell, they only take students who got a 1300 or higher, when I know that I could excel in those classes even though I didn’t get a high score on the SAT because I would have the time to do my work and not squeeze 40 questions plus having to read articles in 30 minutes, its just ridiculous. I know that it could sometimes be beneficial, but in my case it doesn’t help me at all, unless I can get a high score it almost nullifies my GPA and my actual performance in school and real work, just because I didn’t do so well on a stupid test. If I don’t get a high score on the SAT then really good schools won’t even look at me, when in fact I can do good in school but I just can’t take the SAT. Its ridiculous and I think that there should be some other way of judging students, because the SAT in some cases doesn’t prove anything.

Abortion

Now this is an extremely controversial topic that many people don’t agree with, but I would have to say that I am pro abortion. I'm not saying that if you just don’t want a baby and you have the income to support one that you should be so quick to kill a human life, but I believe that there are many cases in where it is undeniably justifiable. I think that it is wrong in every way to kill a human life, but to make one suffer and give it pain by not being able to take care of it or by giving it a crappy life is just plain inhumane. I understand where people think its wrong, its not right to take away a human life, but making a human suffer by one way or another is just unfair and it would’ve been better to just let it be out away when it wasn’t even in existence instead of creating a bad life for yourself and a bad life for it.

The most justifiable case I can probably think of is a pregnant teenager. Teenage pregnancy is a horrible thing that actually doesn’t kill one life if you decide to get an abortion but practically too because not everyone lives like us in Weston, and most teenage pregnancies are with people that cannot support another life, so why make two crappy lives for the mother and child, instead of having an abortion and giving the mother a chance at a normal life. People say that they should just put it up for adoption if they don’t want it, but seriously, if it was my kid I wouldn’t want to be giving it away to a stranger and I wouldn’t want it to know that its own father/mother left them because they couldn’t AFFORD them, I think it would be horrible to find that out when you were about 10 or so. It’s just unfair to both the teenager and child to not have an abortion, in most cases.

There are many more reasons why an abortion would be justifiable, but im not really going to get into all of them. I am personally pro abortion, now I know many people will and will not agree with me, but it is my opinion and I do think I do make some good points when I argue this. Sometimes it is just better to end the existence of a person before they even exist than to birth them and slowly kill them on the outside form one way or another.

Twitter and Facebook

Okay so this has become a major topic in today’s society, these are probably some of the two most important websites for getting information out there for people to see. Some people have made it their lives and are on these websites 24/7 because they are apparently hooked. There are even reports that OBAMA has twitter, how crazy is that? But it might not be such a bad thing.

Honestly I think these websites aren’t as bad as people might their they are, just because people are chatting online and are intertwined in each others lives, does not mean that they will stop social gatherings and actually seeing people, if anything this makes us all more connected and gives us the opportunity to communicate with a range of people, instead of not doing anything, but I don’t think someone would substitute talking on twitter or Facebook instead of actually being with the real person. Now im all for this, these are pretty amazing websites that allow people to communicate and they don’t necessarily allow personal information to be given out if you choose not to do so, so they aren’t really dangerous unless you make them. They are great communication websites, that even our president has, so he can be connected to the public, even though he must have like a billion fans, it’s a good way for him to connect with our society on a different level. These are just the gateway to a higher communication where people can interact more often, but I don’t think it will actually decrease the amount that people see each other in real life.

I have heard that twitter is becoming better than Facebook. To my knowledge I can’t even make that assumption because I don’t have a twitter account, not because I don’t want one but just because I don’t feel like making one and learning how to use it. But I don’t understand how people are choosing one over the other, probably because you can get more information out of a lot more people on twitter, but it seems limited with only a 140 word restriction. But in any case these are still two great websites that help out our society and broaden the range of communication for people all around the globe.

The "H" grade

Okay so some schools in our country have decided to take Fs away and replace them with Hs, which stand for held, and this means that no students fail and will have the opportunity to make up the work late on for full credit. Now I think that is BS but many people think that this might actually be a good thing. People are saying that if students don’t have the negative connotation of failing, then they will do better in school, and that if the F is replaced then students would never fail and grades could be made up. Some people back up this argument by saying that there has been a 15-48% raise in students passing classes, well that’s no shock to me because if you let a student choose when they want to do their work and let them do whatever the hell they want, then they are obviously going to do it later on for a full grade once a kid who actually deserves the grade has done it.

In my opinion this is ridiculous, and even stupid. All this does is promote laziness and say that its ok for you not do your work because you can turn it whenever you want, well that’s wrong because that’s not going to prepare anyone for the real world, and all it’s going to do is baby people. The argument of F having a bad connotation is also a poor argument because failure often drives to kids to do better in school because they have the fear of failure and they don’t want it to happen. It is also unfair to the kids who try and do their work on time because the lazy kids are going to get the exact same grade for putting in less effort, that’s cheap an it really is unfair to the kids who try hard and actually do the things they are suppose to do. All this is going to do is create a lazier generation that will eventually fail in the real world because they wont have any sense of punctuation or doing their work on time, and it will also cast a giant shadow over those kids who actually try because as far as grades go, the kid who did shit, and the kid who did everything on time will have the same grade. This is a ridiculous idea and I don’t even see how people find excuses for kids not doing their work and they are now changing the grade system for the kids who don’t deserve the grades and do nothing. This will only give the ability to not do work and make kids who don’t deserve grades equal to the ones who do, and that’s just not fair because eventually they will have to compete for college spots, and the ones who did the work on time will be no different from the others.

Religion

Religion in our society, I think, governs too much. Too many people go by religion instead of our natural rights, and sometimes that can even lead to discrimination even though we might not think it does. We are suppose to have a separation of church and state, which means that there should be no religious influence in our laws, because our people have the right to do what they want with their lives and follow which ever religion they please. But this sometimes doesn’t go as it is suppose to, people think that we have a separation of church and state, but in reality we really don’t. Gay marriage is one of those things that are discriminated against because of religion, and it is not allowed in almost all of America because o religion, people say that it is immoral and wrong. But that is because their religion says so, and the state actually makes the people vote on this even though it shouldn’t even be a question because were suppose to have a separation of church and state, but since so many people are religious, it doesn’t get to happen because people vote against it, even though that is unfair, and because that is based 100% on religion, no matter what anyone tries to say.

Religion also affects people in other countries, like the girl who married the 60 year old, it creates a lot of commotion because many people disagree it, and our world shouldn’t be based on religion, but on what people want to do with their lives as long as it doesn’t affect anyone else. Because right now in our world, religion is effecting millions of people in a negative way. I'm not saying religion is bad; it’s actually a good thing because it gives guidance and hope, but it shouldn’t be forced onto other people. It is wrong to push your beliefs on someone, not even if your a 100% sure its the right thing, people have the right to think what they want so religion should not be forced on them in any way, shape, or form.

Is a school strip search on a 13- year old bad???

OK well I don’t have a picture for this one but we'll manage. Savana Redding, 19, who was an eighth-grade honors student at Safford Middle School was strip searched at her school by her school administrators because they heard that she might have prescription-strength ibuprofen pills, they're like strong Advil. Once her administrators heard about the rumor, they called down the 13 year old girl to perform a strip search, it has scared her tremendously and she is now taking it to the Supreme Court.

There are many moral issues with this story, and especially considering the fact that they did not find anything on her. The girl is taking her case to the Supreme Court after two other courts have ruled that the school had every right to perform that search. She says that she has been traumatized her since, she has few friends and doesn’t like going outside, she also has many trust issues because of this violating search. She said she didn’t say know because she’s the type of girl who listens to her superiors. They did not notify her mother, and it was the nurse who performed the strip search, not a police officer.

Now I think that this is totally wrong. They had no right to search her unless they had tangible proof or a better source, because it’s too easy to get ten kids together to lie about someone to get them in trouble. She says that she has had a lot of emotional distress because of this. They had to right to do this unless first notifying her parents, or the authorities, they had no right to violate a girl like that. I am still two faced about this story though, because the school did do it for the safety of others, and apparently were allowed to do that by law. Now there should definitely be some procedures in the future, like notifying her parents, or the police. It’s too easy for that to happen to someone and especially a 13 year old girl when it scared her for life. She is now 19 but still has problems coping with everything. (The actual event happened in 2003) What do you think of this? Do you think it is just that she was strip searched? Or do you think it was a violation of her body?

Cultural difference??

Does this sound right to you??? In Afghanistan it is legal for a 60 year old man to marry an eight year old girl. And you might think to yourself, do these things really happen? Well they do, a young 8 year old girl has recently taken to court her marriage for divorce, she said she was raped by the man several times. The terms of marriage are simple, you can have sex until she has reached puberty, but the man couldn’t wait so he raped her. The marriage was not her idea, her brother set her up to get with the other mans sister.

Now we might say things like, "that’s disgusting" or "how could they let that happen". Well in those countries its legal because women aren’t treated equally, and there is even a LAW that says wives are obliged to have sex once every four weeks. Women are not respected and things like that happen all the time, and when we question them and ask them what they're thinking, they just reply by saying "its just a cultural difference". They also get offended and say that westerners should be forcing their beliefs on them, and the say it is in their sacred script, because everything that is not forbidden, is allowed.

So what would i say to that? I say that that is completely wrong and it is not a cultural difference. Humans are born with morals and even the 8 year old girl cried and felt violated even though she was always taught that that’s how its suppose to be. So even if it is in their culture, it is a violation of natural human rights, but not because my western ideals think so, but because an innocent girl having been taught nothing else still knows that that was wrong. So should it really be allowed? I say NO but many people will just argue that its a "cultural difference".

Social Security Checks! Good or Bad?

Okay, first of all if you really want to get into this subject, then I strongly recommend watching the movie that I have put as my picture. It is very interesting and will make you look and think about the flaws of this country that need to be fixed.

Social Security was the first Government program, it was established in 1936 to originally help the elderly, widows, and disabled people. But it soon turn into something that everyone would take advantage of.

Should drug addicts receive money? Because I think that if they are addicted to something and they are given money because they can’t get a job and all they do is drugs, it is just ridiculous because the obvious answer would seem to be that they just buy more drugs with the money.

Drug addiction is considered a "disease" in America, so if you decide to do crack and get addicted, it’s not your fault, and you should be entitled to money for doing Sh*#t. Well I think that that is completely ridiculous, and honestly stupid. Drug abuse is considered a disease so people with drug addictions are entitled money every month for the government, and I think that is stupid because all they are obviously going to do is buy more drugs with the money because they see that all they have to do to attain the money for drugs, is actually just do the drug. So what do you think about that?

Honestly they should be stricter with this, sure it has helped a lot of people in though times but it has also been abused and some people think that it might actually promote not getting job and doing drugs because it is so easy to get that money for free. Now sure there are exceptions and it is actually a very good program to help those in need, but they should have tighter regulations and they should definitely rethink about giving drug addicts money.

So what do you think about all this? Is it right to give a person money because they have a so called "disease" that is their own fault, and they choose to not go out and get a job. Now sure it is a good program and is helping people nationwide, or it should keep on going but it should definitely reconsider its regulations to just make it an all around better program.

Marijuana!

Marijuana has been a very controversial topic for years. It has its pros and its cons but the legalization of it might not be such a bad thing after all.

The first thing that people are going to think when they read this is that I smoke, but that’s not true at all. But I do know the facts of it and how it could actually benefit our society. First of all it has its medical uses, many people can actually cure some diseases using the plant, and even though it gives you the feeling of being "high", it still not all that bad. Compared to cigarettes marijuana is completely natural and has actually killed millions and millions less than cigarettes. It is also a stress reliever and would help many people in difficult times.

Marijuana, if we choose to believe it or not, is in fact a multi billion dollar business. IN California it is the 4th cash crop of the state, it would actually help California get out of their debt if they legalized marijuana because it would because a booming business and it would clear up thousands of jail beds, and it takes 27,000 dollars per person to keep them in jail for one year, so think of how much money that would save. It has also not a federal crime anymore, because it was decided that it would be the states choice.

It is also a way that teenagers have fun, and it is not that bad for you, but there are bad sides to it. It can cause impaired judgment and possibly cancer, even though that has not been proven yet. But if it were legalized it would take the weight off the shoulders of many kids, considering that probably 65% of the kids at cypress bay have probably tried it once. So maybe if California does legalize it, it might actually spread and become legal in other states, and eventually be accepted into society. But all we can do is wait, and if it does happen, see what the outcome is.

Gay Marriage

What better controversial topic to start off this new blog with then gay marriage. Many people are against this because they think that it’s a sin and against their religion or they think it’s just plain wrong. A couple of states allow it and many states are actually against. . .yea they actually choose what people can and cannot do when it comes to there love life, and people call this freedom?? Don’t get me wrong, im definitely not gay and I don’t really like them that much but they are entitled to their opinion and nobody should be allowed to take that away from them.

Many people say that it is against their religion so it is wrong. . . well people need to grow up and realize that other people are living in this world and that they are entitled to do whatever they want with their lives. I am not a religious person at all, I don’t necessarily believe it because it’s a book, anyone can write a book, and for some reason they decided to say that gay marriage was wrong, but that is unfair. And to force those ideas on other is simply wrong. Gays have been suppressed for a long time but they shouldn’t be, its their own personally choice and people need to accept that because its wrong to hate someone because they like people of the same sex, and its definitely wrong to not allow them to get married to each other.

If a gay couple really like each other then they should have the privilege of getting married because marriage is about love, so I don’t see the problem. People can be very ignorant when it comes to this subject because they think it’s wrong so they don’t think it should be allowed. But what if one day someone said that straight marriage is wrong, then would we have to restrict that?? Well I think its wrong how gays are restricted. I don’t personally like them that much but they are entitled to do whatever they want with their lives and we do not have the right to tell them otherwise. People need to grow up and accept people for who they are and stop restricting them just because of their beliefs.

New Blog!!!!

I know that many of my readers are saddened by the fact that I won’t be discussing the universe anymore, but its ok because I have decided to do a blog about my views on. . Well everything.

This new blog of mine is designed to express my thoughts and opinions on certain topics. I believe that many people will find my new blog very interesting and will like it even better than my old on. (Even though my old one was sick nasty). I have decided to change my topic not because I have ran out of things to talk about relating to the universe, but I want people to know how I feel on certain topics and hopefully spark an interesting conversation with someone. This new blog will be talking about any controversial topic that people might or might not agree with. I hope that this new blog will open up people’s minds to the world around them because I want to know what people think on the subjects I will be introducing, so if you’re reading this you better comment on my future blogs!! =]

I hope everyone will enjoy this new blog and I hope to make some enemies and friends with this blog because I know that a lot of people are going to disagree with me on the issues that I will address.

The world's biggest particle accelerator

I think that this machine is one of the most ingenious and crazy thing I have ever seen. It is a particle accelerator which basically does exactly what you would think it would do. It accelerates particles to tremendous speeds so they can eventually make them clash to have a mini reproduction of the big bang. This may sound crazy but with this kind of complicated technology I think anything is possible. This is considered to be the most complicated and biggest science experiment ever. It is costing the world about 8 billion dollars and it locate in the Franco-Swiss border near Geneva. What it does is it accelerates particles using magnets that propel them around a 17 mile long tube that it 100 meters under the ground. The particle, after several months, would be accelerated to 99.9% the speed of light, and then clashed with the other particle to recreate the big bang for a fraction of a second. They have already tried to start the acceleration but after one month the system crashed and they had to fix it and now start over. 99.9% the speed of light is an incredible speed, to put it in perspective, the particles will travel around the 17 mile long tube about 11,000 times a second, which is uncomprehendable because to see something move at that speed, you would’ve be able to see it at all. The collision will hopefully show us how the big bang started and it will actually create mini black holes which will disappear right away. The whole collision process is about a second long and takes several months to create. The collision will actually produce about 10 trillion electron volts, which is a s***t load of energy. I am actually excited to see what the results of this experiment are going to bring, and to maybe discover the origin of the universe.

Space volcanoes!!

We all know about volcanoes on earth, they are giant mountains that erupt at certain points in time to let out lava that destroys anything in its path. The reason lava destroys everything in its path is because it can go up to 1250 degrees Celsius, which is enough to burn anything on the surface of the earth. Volcanoes erupt because the magma ( molten rock) which lies under them, creates too much pressure and at one point, after storing up all that energy, it erupt and the magma comes out of the volcanoes. But volcanoes aren’t just on earth, and this makes sense considering that every planet has a molten hot core that needs to come out at some point to relieve all the pressure. Well we haven’t seen anything yet. The biggest volcanoes in our solar system is located on mars. It is called Olympus Mons, which is named after mount Olympus where the Greek gods reside. It is humongous, it is 14 miles tall (three times as tall as Mt.Everest, and 342 miles across (about half of Spain). So as you can imagine is tremendously huge. The last time it erupted was about 40 million years ago, and if it were to erupt again, it would be one of the most massive explosions ever seen by man. But luckily we live on earth where volcanoes like that aren’t even close to existence. But I hope one day we will see Olympus Mon erupt, the biggest volcano I our solar system.

Astronauts

I think that astronauts are kick ass people who risk their lives whenever they go on a mission. But at the same time it’s the coolest thing ever, and I hope that one day I will get to go into space. The training to become an astronaut takes about 10-20 years depending on how good you are and its one of the most difficult training on the planet. They train under harsh environments so they will be able to take anything that space throws at them and you better like roller coasters because you get that feeling the whole time if you’re an astronaut. Out of 10s of thousands of men and women that try out, only a 100 are chosen to become astronauts. You need to be extremely smart and be very fit, it’s extremely hard. When you’re in space it is an imaginable and sensational experience. If you’re in the vastness of space you float there and are able to do whatever you want and if you’re on a smaller planet you can jump 20 feet easily depending on which planet you are. When astronauts are in space, they actually experience the roller coaster feeling a 100% of the time, even if they're in the shuttle, because in the vastness of space you are actually always falling at enormous speeds, so you always have that feeling but after a while they get used to it and forget about it. But whatever the challenges may be I hope to one day go into space and be able to float around and see earth as a whole.

Theory of evolution

The theory of evolution is a very controversial thing in our society. Most religions deny that it ever happened that way, and scientists have proven the theory. I agree with the scientist because they have facts and proof of the evolution of man. We have skeletons of primitive people and these bones have been chemically proven to be our ancestors.

I believe that the way religion sees it, is completely ignorant. I don’t understand how people still deny evolution even though we have cold hard facts that it’s true. Religion says that god just poofed us here but I strongly disagree with that.

The main theory of evolution is that we have evolved from primates or monkeys. Some scientist say that over millions of years, our brains started to grow and we finally evolved into what we are today. Primate had needs and evolution enabled them to accommodate to what they needed and that’s how we came to be. It took a long time but we eventually evolved into beings with large brains and an incredible amount of brain power. Thus we became the dominant species of the planet earth. It has been proven that we are a lot like primates and they’re actually the only other animals to have thumbs besides us. Primates can actually be very smart, some have even learned to use sign language.

Other scientists think that we evolved from fish. They say that eventually a type of fish didn’t need gills anymore and eventually evolved into humans. But I believe the primate one more because primates are very similar to us and they're the only animal that have that much in common with us.

The moon!

What is the moon? People have been asking that question for thousands of years, and it’s only recently that we've been able to unmask it. From the moon landing on July 20th 1969 up until today we have been trying to fully understand the moon. We now know a lot about the moon and the effects that it has on us today. We know that the moon is 240,000 miles away and that the moon actually controls the tides on the earth, which makes sense because the moon has a gravitational pull too. The moon was created when a huge asteroid hit earth and a chunk of earth broke off but stayed within the gravitational pull of earth and the chunk of rock ultimately formed our moon. Some people think that the moon landing was a fake, and there is actual evidence to prove that but there is also a great deal of evidence to show that we did land on the moon, but we will probably never know for sure. All we know it that the moon has a great effect on the world we live in and has inspired people throughout time. Maybe one day we will have the technology and resources to be able to create a civilization that lives on the moon.

EarthS???

How many earths are out there? If there are multiple can there exist other life forms on them?

People have been asking these questions for thousands of years, but now some evidence has been shown that there might actually be other earths. Scientists have been studying this for many years and have concluded that in our galaxy there actually is billions of other earth like planets that each have a sun like ours. These earth like planets might actually have water and an atmosphere, which would support life. These billions of other earths could have intelligent life forms. Scientists actually suggest that there has been many civilizations before ours and that all these earths might have civilizations now.

But the question that many people ask is, how come we haven’t seen any aliens then? Well I think that’s a stupid question because the closest star to our solar system is 4.37 light years away, which in the speeds that we can travel at, it could take thousands, even millions of years to reach it. So if we can’t, why could other life forms be able to come so close to our planet if it would take so long to get here, and it’s impossible for something to move at the speed of light, so it would take a long time to get here. The earth like planets are a lot further than the closest sun so im not surprised that any aliens haven’t come to see us, because we haven’t gone anywhere to see other aliens, so how would they be able to if we couldn’t. But hopefully one day we'll know the truth and see if there actually is life on other earth like planets, and maybe in the future we could migrate to one if our becomes to inhabitable by pollution.

The smallest thing ever!!!!

Atoms are the smallest things that we can imagine, and they are the building blocks of everything we know and love. The range of its mass is 1.67 × 10−27 to 4.52 × 10−25 kg, that’s extremely small. Things we think are solid actually aren’t because atoms are mostly empty space, they are a condensed piece of matter in the middle and electrons float around it, but it is mostly empty space. So solid things aren’t actually solid at the atomic level, and atoms are in constant movement, they are always vibrating and colliding with one another. The never ending movement of atoms is what gives them the ability to make objects seem solid, and lets say that we could stop the movement of atoms completely on an object, then in theory you would be able to go right through the object because the atoms aren’t colliding and moving so you would be able to literally push them apart and go through any object, but to attain that we would need to be able to produce "absolute zero" which is zero Kelvin and -273 degrees Celsius, and if we were able to reach that temperature, atoms would stop to move, but its practically impossible and we’ve only come 99.9% of that. The atoms mass is mostly concentrated at the center which is made up of protons and neutrons, which are positive and negative respectively. The outer part of the atom is composed of electrons which are negative and located in the electron cloud. The nucleus or center of the atom is relatively small compared to the rest of it, if a marble was a nucleus then an entire football field would be the atom. So are the smallest things we know and make up everything we know.

UFO's!!!!!!!

UFO's stands for unidentified flying object. People have been reporting UFO citing for years, there’s even shows that try to prove the existence of UFO's such as "ufo hunters" on the history channel. They have been one of the greatest mysteries of human kind.

Everyone has there own beliefs of what an alien could look like, and most of the images in peoples heads are green shaped beings with black beady eyes. Well they would look weird but not the image that they are portrayed as. They would be carbon based and they would look like organisms that live on our planet, were not sure exactly how but that’s close enough. Their craft would also be unknown because they wouldn’t necessarily be disk shaped, most UFO cititngs have been triangular or just an arrangement of lights. We don’t know if they really exist, but personally I think they do, we just haven’t seen one because the universe is infinitely huge and to get here from another galaxies would take millions of years. But I do think they exist because there are a lot of planets in the universe that resemble earth and it wouldn’t be that surprising to find another planet that looks like earth and could be habitable. There has been thousands of UFO citing and maybe one day we'll get to know what they really look like, because it has to be almost a certainty that they exist.

What is our sun?

http://www.youtube.com/watchv=x1w8hKTJ2Co&feature=related First of all watch his video because itl blow your mind, and make you think how small we really are.

We are actually very tiny in the universe, our sun which appears to be so big is actually also very small. Even though it is really small in comparison to all the things in the universe, it is relatively far, lets say that the sun was to completly shut off, we wouldnt see any change for eight minutes because thats how long it takes the light from the sun to get here. The sun is extremly hot, at the surface its 10,000 degrees farenheit and its about 27 million degrees farenheit at its core. The sun is composed of 75% hydrogen and 25% helium, its not very complicated. It works and makes the energy and light it provides by a thing called fusion, its where it takes a hydrogen and helium particle and fuses it together to produce light and energy. Fusion would be the best way to make energy on earth but we havent found out how to do it yet, all we can do is fission which splits an atom in half and produces energy but it emits bad radiation, fission takes place at nuclear stations. Once the sun runs out of gases to do fusion with, it will basicly turn off and imploded over the weight of its own gravity and in turn make a black hole, but that wont happen for at least 5 billion years. The sun isnt a very complicated thing but it is what makes life on earth possible because it provides us with heat, light, and energy which is hwat every living thing needs.

How our planet was made!!!

Our planet was created about 4.27 billion of years ago in a very simple way. Around that time a supernova exploded (a supernova is like a gigantic star, its like 46 times bigger than the sun). When it exloded it sent out a wave of matter whichi was attracted by our suns gravity. Once it was attracted to our sun, the matter started whirling around and clashing togehter to form burning bodies of hydrogen and helium. Then the suns gravity made it able to gather gaseous clouds of matter which started to clash into each other, and when they did they stuck together and became extremly hot. After a while planets and astroids would start to form and eventually earth was made. But at first it was a massive ball of hot rock that was just crumpled together, and after a long time it cooled down and water was able to form because of our atmosphere that was created in the process from all the gases floating that were realeased from the center. As the earth cooled all the metals sunk to the center, thus creating the earths iron core, and it became round beacause of gravity. The center contained water vapor, carbon dioxide, sulfur, nitrogen, argon and chlorine, when it speud up out from the center an atmosphere was made, and thus waster was formed later on. The reason for us having an atmosphere and not the other planets it was because earth was lucky to get the collisions it got and the perfect distance from the sun to make carbon dioxide and oxygen (our atmosphere). So were actually lucky that our planet is even here.

Whats outside?

We all think the universe is infinite and never ending, well thats wrong. The universe is finite, and there is something on the ouside of it. We know this for sure because we know that at one point the universe was a singularity and then it exploded and expended, well its still expending but it is expending in something, and one day it might stop expending and retract but thats for another blog.

So we basicly know for sure that there is something outside the universe but we jsut dont know what it is for sure. There are many theories to whats on the other side of the universe but mostly all answers lead back to one thing, antimatter. Antimatter is actually the opposite of matter. It basiclly cancels out the matter thats in our universe and all the other universes if there are other ones. So antimatter is whats on the ouside of our universe, it just counters the matter that we have in our own.

If there is more than one universe then they all live or reside in an infinite amount of antimatter which counters the matter in the infinite amount of universes. Different universes are basiclly like globs that float next to each other in this infinte amount of antimatter. So you couldnt physically come out of our universe because on the other side there is already antimatter to cancel you otu so you wouldnt actually be able to go out, it would be kind of like a barrier, or at least thats what i think. But before we could even get close to the edge of the universe it would be trillions upon trillions of light years away before you could get there.

How many universes really exist?

Many scientists think that there isnt just one univere but an infinite amount, and some think that there are actually 27 universes, but one think is sure and thats no one knows exactly how many there are.

The thoery of an infinite amount of universes is mind blowing. The thing is that scientisits think that in each universe only one insignifigant thing happened differently. Lets say that one piece of grass blows to the left because of the wind, well an other univerese the only difference is that that piece of grass moves to the right, and thats a completly different universe. So you can easily see how many there are if thats true, then there is an infinite amount of universes becuase an infinite amount of different things can happen.

The theory on 27 universes says that there is actually only 27 of them. Each one operates on a different dimension, meaning that theres a universe that actually moves in 27 different ways, and also another that only moves in one. To explain this, we live in a three dimensional world, we move forward and back, side to side, and up and down, thats three dimensions. Now the universe with four dimensions would move the same way we do and another way which scientists theorize is through time itslef. But there is also a universe that can only move in one dimension, forwad and backwards, and they would have zero thickness because the other ways wouldnt exist. So there could be 27 universes that move in 27 different dimensions.

Asteroids

Asteroids are basiclly just giagantic rocks in space. They are basicly dust, metal, and rock that travel at very fast speeds. They can be huge but if an astroid is an astroid then it is too small to be called a planet, so they are actually mini planets. Thousands of astoids hit the earth every day, but before they can actaully make contact they burn up in the atmosphere. There is a thoery that an astroid wiped out the dinosaurs, a great a mighty race, but the truth is that the astroid which indeed did hit the dinosaurs just hit at a very low point in their exsitence thus wiping the out. There a gigantic craters in the earth that have been made by astroids hitting the earth, some of them are as big as 300 km in diameter. Truth is that earth has been hit by asteroids multiple times, and sometime by thpusands of astroids at the same time, thats because sometimes the asteroid belt in our solar system located between mars and jupiter, it is 370 million miles long, and the main belts are called Gaspra and Ida. We can prove that a lot of asteroids have hit at the same time becaue once every couple millions of years the asteroid belt loses a lot of asteroid that go everywhere, and you can tell this is true because if you look at the moon it has thousands of craters created by asteroids. If a big asteroid did hit earth it would be catastrophic, because not only would it wipe out 1/2 of the population right away but it would throw our planet into another ice age. Lets say that an asteroid was going to hit earth we would know even a 100 years in advance the exact day of the end of humanity, as it would come in it would be so hot (they travel at maybe 100 miles per second) that the fire would be, not red, not blue, not green, but purple, and if you were close enough that your eyes would be able to see it, you would disintegrate right away from the intense heat. But luckly for us, we wont have an asteroid hit us for a lot of generations to come. But if there would be an asteroid coming within the next one hundred years we might actually have the technology to send it away, but if it was a comet we would have no chance.

Galaxies

Galaxies are enormous, and composed of thosands of solar systems. Our galaxie is called the milky way, and we are actually very far off from the center. We are at the edge on a spot called orion spiral arm. There is about 100 billion other stars in our galaxie. The Sun is revolving around the center of the Galaxy at a speed of half a million miles per hour, yet it will still takes 200 million years to go around once. (thats big). The milky way is roughly 10 billion years old. Our galaxie is about 100 000 light years in diameter. Our planet is 26,000 light years away from the center.

Galaxies look like huge spirals. Scientists theorize that there are black holes at the center of galaxies, ours is called Sagittarius A*, and these black holes are actually extremly massive. Galaxies are composed of mainly three parts, The halo a spherical distribution which contains the oldest stars in the galaxy, the nuclear bulge and galactic center which is usually brighter than the other parts, and the disk, which contains the majority of the stars, including the sun, and virtually all of the gas and dust. About two million galaxies have been actually couted in the universe but there could be 100,000 million. There are many galaxies out there, with maybe other life forms but to try and even comprehend how huge our galaxie actually is, its incredible to think that there are so many other ones out there.

Black Holes

Black holes are like the vaccum cleaners of space, and nothing, i mean nothing can escape them.

Black holes are created when the chemical reactions in the stars (fusion) runs out and the stars collapse under their own weight, thus creating a black hole.

Black holes are just extremly condenced mass which means that it has an extremly strong gravitational pull. In fact it is so strong that light can't even escape it and light travels at approximatly 186,000 miles per second ( thats almost as fast as my awesome car), and light is the fastest thing in the universe. So any object that comes within a certain distance to a black hole is automatically doomed because there is no possible way that it can escape its gravitaional pull. They just might be the strongest force in the universe.

Since black holes come from stars and our sun is a star then evetually in about 5 billion years our sun will also turn into a black hole, but if that happened we wouldnt even be around to see it because when a star is about to collapse it turns into a red giant which would swallow our solar system all the way up to venus.

Lets say that if a star were to collapse even 25 light years away from us, we would be doomed because black holes move (100,000 km/hr) and we would also know the exact time (hundreds of years in advance) when our world would come to an end. If that were to happen it would outshine anything in our sky because when a star collapses at one moment itsd brighter than all the other light in the universe combined. But we most likely wouldnt get to se our world get sucked into a black whole, we wouldve got killed a long time ago from the gamma radiation coming from the explosion which would burn off our o-zone layer. If our o-zone layer got burned off we would be getting horrible sunburns even if we were inside and we would all go blind and evetually die.

But lets say you did make it through the o-zone layer burning up, and you made it long enough for the arrival of the black hole, then you would get scked into it ( and thats not exactly an enjoyable experience). It would literally rip you apart, piece by piece, because as you get closer to the center of a black hole even feet has a signifigant difference, so if you were getting sucked into a black hole, there would be more pull on your head than your feet so you would literally get ripped apart.

There is of course an opposite to a black hole which hasnt been 100 percent proven but has strong theories behind it. It's called a worm hole/white hole which is where the stuff that came into the black hole is pushed out, but of course into billions of little pieces but it would still come through. Scientist theorize that black holes are rips in the space time continum ( yea thats a super geeky word), and that they actually connect us to different universes. And the stuff that gets caught in our black holes comes out in some other universe out of a worm hole. Thats actually one of the theories of how life came to this universe, it actually came from another universe through a worm hole.

So basicly black holes are like giant vacuum cleaners that suck up anything and everything. They could mean the end to our world as we know it, but we dont have to worry about it because thats not going to be for a very very long time. =]

The Beginning!

The Big Bang,
As most scientists view it as, the beginning of the universe is called the "Big Bang", they say our universe is approximatly 13 billion years old. At first the universe was a singularity in an empty space, and at some point in time an explosion happened and from that sigularity came an infinite place called the universe where time and space was created.
We have evidence and can trace back the big bang to the 10^-43 of the first second after it happened, so almsot to its starting point but not quite, we know that at first the universe was infinitly hot, and the super force is created which consists of the strong nuclear force, the weak nuclear force, electromagnetic, and gravity, this was called inflation and the universe was increasing at a rate greater than the speed of light. Then at 10^-32 of the first second after it happened the universe cooled down to 10^27 degrees celcius (thats really hot) and the universe at the point was known as the Quark soup because it was just electrons and other particles. Then at 10^-6 of the first second the universe dramaticly cooled to 10^13 degrees celcius, at that point clumps of protons and netrons started to form. After 3 minutes the universe has now cooled to 10^8 degrees celcius, but unforutanlty it was still too hot to form atoms or let light penetrate. The we jump to 300,000 years after it happened and it has finally cooled down to 10,000 degrees celcius, and finally hydrogen and helium atoms start to form ( our first elements) and light can shine (so the universe was pitch black for the first 300,00 years). After 1 billion years gravity (every object has gravity, even us) starts to for helium and hydrogen clouds that evetually will become galaxies and stars. The after 12 billion years its cools to -270 degrees celcius and planets and heavy elements start to form.
